Workshop on Intergenerational Connectivity and Community Building

This workshop, titiled "Youth Mental Health Innovation Toolkit Creation", aimed to empower youth to address mental health challenges associated with technology use. This collaborative event, hosted by CCEL, combined brainstorming, creative tool creation, and project ideation to kickstart actionable initiatives addressing youth mental health concerns in the digital age.
As a Community Engagement Assistant, my involvement in the workshop was an invaluable opportunity for personal and professional growth. Key learnings include:
Innovative Engagement: Observing and supporting the brainstorming and tool-creation sessions offered insights into effectively engaging youth in meaningful, hands-on activities.
Facilitation and Coordination: Managing logistics, from preparing materials to facilitating activities, honed my organizational and multitasking skills.
Empowering Youth Voices: The workshop emphasized the importance of youth-led solutions in addressing mental health challenges, reinforcing the need for participatory design.
Fostering Connections: Collaborating with community partners and UBC students highlighted the power of intergenerational dialogue and teamwork in driving social change.
Understanding Challenges in Digital Socialization: Discussions around the pros and cons of virtual vs. in-person interactions deepened my awareness of the complex social dynamics facing today’s youth.
